BOB BLUE is a native New Englander and a plein air painter in oils. Born in Newton, he graduated from Vesper George School of Art. His subjects range from sea and harbor to the mountains and villages of Maine & Vermont. He studied with Emile Gruppe, with whom he enjoyed a long association and close friendship.

Bob pursued a commercial art career for 42 years in industry, creating scientific illustrations for national magazines and advertisement for journals. His full-color paintings for GTE’s trade shows traveled around the world.

Recent awards include the Frederick Mulhaupt Memorial Award & Grumbacher Gold Medal, NSAA; John Loughlin Memorial & Great Gatsby Awards, RAA; Sagendorph Yankee Magazine Award, Copley Society; Jessie B. McReynolds Memorial Award, Salmagundi Club; Varvara E. Pellington Memorial & Phillip Shumaker Memorial Awards, Hudson Valley Art Association.
