ANN FISK, daughter of artists Tod Lindenmuth & Elisabeth Warren, obtained her BA in Design at Stanford University. Her initial art instruction from her parents was augmented by study in Cleveland with museum teachers and with a number of excellent artists in Rockport.
As a child, she came to summer in Rockport from Provincetown in 1940, living in St. Augustine in the winter. In 1961, she moved to Rockport permanently, essentially spending her entire life in artist colonies.
Her art career is varied. She has been an artist of the RAA since 1956, serving as Director from 1983-1993. She collaborated on Kristian Davies book Artists of Cape Ann, is involved in selling and appraising works by deceased Cape Ann artists, co-manages the Bryan Gallery on Rocky Neck, and exhibits her work in local galleries. While a selectman, Ann helped to restore and augment the Town’s museum collection.
Fueled by her dual love of plein-air painting and travel, she has led 18 international non-instructional painting trips in 18 years. She tries to convey to the observer the substance of what the subject before her is imparting to her – something probably alluding those who looked at the scene, but did not really see it. This is done mostly in the immediate medium of watercolor that helps to capture the spontaneity & sometimes humor of the scene. Art is Life!
