Join us for a hands-on workshop creating cyanotype photograms using foliage and found objects. A cyanotype is a 19th century printing technique that uses the sun to make appealing Prussian Blue images. A photogram is a lens-less image made from light and shadows that is especially well suited to cyanotypes. They are fun to make, use non-toxic chemistry, and easy to do at home. In addition to learning how to make your own unique prints, the workshop will provide a brief history, a paper coating demonstration, and an overview of some creative options that cyanotypes offer.

Light-sensitive paper, a DIY printing frame, and a cyanotype materials list will be provided and yours to take home after the workshop. A $20 dollar materials fee is included in the tuition.

All skill levels are welcome. Space is limited.

Participants are encouraged to bring small, flat objects for making silhouettes on 8 x 10 paper. Suggestions include but are not limited to:
• Grass, leaves, twigs, flowers, or other botanical materials
• Dried flowers or plastic versions
• Kitchen utensils, tools, keys, or rings
• Small toys
• Feathers, string, or rope
• Lace or translucent fabrics
• Exposed B&W negatives (35mm or larger)
• Items made from glass
