From Sketchbook to Canvas: The Process of Aldro T. Hibbard, N.A. (1886 – 1972)
Long revered for his New England winter landscapes, the work of Aldro Hibbard has enchanted collectors for more than a century. Bold, scenic, endlessly inventive… Yet the question remains: How did Hibbard build his masterpieces? How did he move from firsthand observations of his environment towards his final painted compositions? In this revolving exhibition of sketches just released from the Hibbard Estate paired with a selection of his masterful paintings, we are now afforded the chance to not only see how Hibbard conceived and built his compositions, but to own them as well.
August 17 through September 23, 2019, in the Marguerite Pearson Gallery
