Please join me as I demonstrate a still life that is definitely not “still.” Using fresh summer flowers, I will show you how I create a natural looking grouping, emphasizing how to simplify something that is innately complicated.

I have almost always painted exclusively from life, which included years of plein air trips painting landscapes and gardens around the world. I’ll show you how these observations from life follow you into the studio to help you create a better painting.

The emphasis is on a strong block in, always thinking about design, composition, and values, and delving into what this really means.
