Scott Tubby has been making art full time for 45 years. He started his artistic career as a ceramic artist but returned to art school in 1998 and now works in two mediums – oil paint and clay. His art is in many private and public collections throughout the US, Europe and Japan including 3 porcelain vessels in the permanent collection of The Smithsonian Museum of American Art.

“Through the discipline of art, I have learned to create in a more intuitive way. I use an idea or sketch a composition as a starting point, but then let the work unfold and inform me as I continue to work with color, form, texture and light until I feel all the various elements coming together in a harmonious way. Working in three dimensions for most of my career has had a strong influence on what I create on a two-dimensional surface.”

Scott is celebrating his twelfth year as a gallery owner in Rockport, and most days you will find him working on his latest painting just a short walk down the street at Scott Tubby Fine Art. In the gallery, you’ll find a large selection of original paintings, prints, posters, note cards and ceramics. Please stop in for a visit!
